The Bake Shop
Established in 2007, Bluebird Confections was born
out of necessity to provide the Hudson Valley and
beyond with a high end custom cake designer that rivals
the best of Manhattan’s bakeries. While emphasizing
the use of fresh ingredients and “from scratch”
techniques combined with an exceptional eye for detail
and amazing artistry, Bluebird Confections will create
an edible work of art that stands to be the centerpiece
of your wedding or special event. Whether it is hand
crafted sugar flowers atop a multi-tiered cake, exquisitely
designed and delicious wedding favors or a tasteful
platter of custom cookies, the attention to detail
that is given to each finished product and our high
standards are what make ‘Bluebird’ customers
so loyal.
Willie Mae
It could be said, Bluebird Confections’ owner,
Willie Mae Murphy, the daughter of a children’s
clothing designer and a sailboat captain, had the
right ingredients for such a venture from the start.
With her mother’s sense of design and her father’s
adventurous spirit, it was apparent from an early
age that this was the path she would take. Growing
up in San Francisco immersed her in a food culture
that instilled in her an intense passion for kitchen
artistry. Needless to say, the experiments in her
mother’s kitchen never came to an end, they
continued to evolve. Eventually, this passion for
food and baking led Willie Mae to New York City. She
spent the next ten years perfecting her craft, carefully
choosing whom she would work for in order to gain
the most experience and knowledge. She has built a
formidable resume over the years including restaurants
such as Lespinasse, Del Posto and Blue Hill at Stone
Barns and worked alongside notable cake designers
Elisa Strauss of Confetti Cakes and Mark Randazzo
of Mark Joseph Cakes. Willie Mae Murphy is truly a
veteran of many great restaurants and a student of
many great chefs. Her commitment to a standard of
excellence is evident and her desire to please her
clients is distinct. |
